Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth’s Met Gala night did not end at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The newlywed couple headed down to the Gucci after party, where Cyrus had an outfit change.
The singer started the evening in a green and black metallic, Christmas gift-ish mini dress by Saint Laurent. She ended it in a slightly more casual black shift dress, dotted tights, and a sleek black blazer with a zipper. Hemsworth, meanwhile, ditched his suit jacket. (He was also wearing Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello at the Met Gala.)
The night marked Hemsworth and Cyrus’s first time at the Met Gala as a couple period, and it was additionally Hemsworth’s very first time ever attending the prestigious Upper East Side party.
Prior to the Met Gala, Hemsworth and Cyrus’s last public date night was at the Avengers: Endgame premiere, where they also wore Saint Laurent. Cyrus was super into Hemsworth that night, writing on her Instagram Story, “I’m literally freakishly obsessed with husband right now…like always have been, always will be, but RN it’s EXTRA compulsive.”
Cyrus talked to Vanity Fair earlier this year about why she ultimately married Hemsworth in December 2018. “The reason that people get married sometimes can be old-fashioned, but I think the reason we got married isn’t old-fashioned—I actually think it’s kind of New Age,” she started. “We’re redefining, to be fucking frank, what it looks like for someone that’s a queer person like myself to be in a hetero relationship. A big part of my pride and my identity is being a queer person. What I preach is: People fall in love with people, not gender, not looks, not whatever. What I’m in love with exists on almost a spiritual level. It has nothing to do with sexuality. Relationships and partnerships in a new generation—I don’t think they have so much to do with sexuality or gender. Sex is actually a small part, and gender is a very small, almost irrelevant part of relationships.”
