Hawkins’s newbie Robin is a lot of things: super cool, witty, smart, and Stranger Things‘ first openly gay character. After Netflix released Stranger Things season three on Independence Day, Twitter hasn’t stopped talking about Robin’s addition to the Stranger Things crew, especially the fact that Hawke is actually the daughter of Hollywood royalty, Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawken—and looks a whole lot like them.
“90% of my time watching Stranger Things is spent trying to decide if Maya Hawke looks more like Uma Thurman or Ethan Hawke,” one Twitter user wrote, and honestly, same. Hawke’s resemblance to both of her parents is uncanny. One moment, you get Thurman’s Georgia Elkans in Johnny Be Good vibes from Hawke’s character, but then Hawke’s charming demeanor also reminds you a lot of her father. She is literally the perfect combination of the Hollywood legends.
Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke first met on the set of the 90s classic film Gattaca and married in 1998, the same year they welcomed daughter Maya Hawke. Thurman starred in a number of Quentin Tarantino films, including the Kill Bill series and Pulp Fiction; Ethan Hawke starred in films like Training Day, Before Sunrise, Dead Poets Society. The Hollywood couple were married for six years before they divorced.
When Stranger Things 3 dropped, Ethan praised his daughter’s performance on Instagram.
“Some of you may have missed her in last year’s BBC production of Little Women. Some of you may have missed her work at Juilliard,” he wrote. “I know many missed out on numerous high school productions — heck I even missed a few and I’m her father. Some of you may know her music, some may not. But Ladies & Gentleman, get to know MAYA HAWKE. She’s the real thing.”
Robin became a fan-favorite from the moment she graced the screen. She was unamused by Steve’s charm (or lack thereof), quickly proved herself to be more than just Steve’s hilarious co-worker when she cracked a code to uncover a secret Russian plan.
We have no choice but to stan and Twitter agrees:
